Freelancer Fridays

Following recent tweets from freelancer colleagues who are missing the social side of working in an office with others, we are delighted to be launching ‘Freelancer Fridays’, starting from Friday 4 March.

On Fridays, we’ll throw open the doors of our Community Meeting Room as a shared workspace for colleagues from across the museums sector and local community to use. Initially we’ll have 4 desk spaces available each Friday for free, but will review this in the future. Donations towards the Museum’s work are gratefully appreciated.

We can’t provide the facilities other shared workspaces offer. But we can offer a friendly welcome, space to work and lovely people to chat to in our historic industrial building. The Museum is cold, so we strongly recommend warm layers. The Pump and Grind Café is open for delicious drinks, cakes and light lunches from 10am to 3:30pm.

Our Community Meeting Room is upstairs in a historic building with no lift access, so sadly isn’t accessible to everyone.

Desk spaces can be booked via our website.
