TWICKENHAM & DISTRICT MRC was established in 1961. A small group of modellers used to meet informally at Hodgson’s Toy and Model Shop in Whitton, where they decided it was a good idea to form a model railway club.

Today, we have approximately seventy members who enjoy railway modelling and membership of Twickenham & District Model Railway Club.

Brief History: Having formally established Twickenham & District MRC, membership grew quickly. A clubroom, initially located in the centre of Richmond, was established to hold meetings and build layouts.

Major redevelopment of the town centre, combined with our growing membership, resulted in the club moving to the Parkshot Adult College for our regular Friday meetings and several very successful exhibitions. A further, but unexpected, move occurred in late 2004 to our present home, ‘Kerswell Hall’ in Wills Crescent, on the borders of Whitton and Hounslow.

We have become well-established in Kerswell Hall over the past 20 years. The club has a number of layouts, ranging from N Gauge, through OO, to O and G Scales, as well as a ‘Multi-Gauge Running Track’ erected on most club nights, which are on Friday evenings from 19:00 to 22:00 (or 7pm to 10pm in old money!). Visitors will be welcome to come along to see who we are and what we do.

At the London Museum of Water and Steam’s “Steam Up Weekend” on 28th February and 1st March, we shall be displaying “River Street Gas Works”, which is a G Scale industrial narrow gauge layout, and “Kerswell Lane”, a small OO Scale layout under construction and intended to be operated by younger railway modellers. We will also have a small selection of secondhand model railway items for sale.

Our website can be seen at www.tdmrc.icu. Our Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/TwickenhamMRC

The club can be contacted by email on: chairman.tdmrc@gmail.com or secretary.tdmrc@gmail.com
