Filming & Photography

The London Museum of Water & Steam is an ideal filming and photography location. Set within a historic pumping station, the Museum provides a perfect backdrops for documentaries and discussion locations.

Filming

The Museum strives to be a film-friendly environment. Whether it is for press or commercial purposes we try to accommodate all reasonable filming requests.

All filming at the Museum must be supervised by a member of the our team. This is to ensure filming goes smoothly, health and safety procedures are adhered to, and that the collection is not put at risk.

All film crews will be required to have public liability insurance when filming on site.

Photography

All members of the public are very welcome to photograph the Museum’s collection as long as the photographs are for personal and non-commercial use.

However, all photography intended for commercial use must be coordinated through the museum team and fees will apply.

FAQ

When can I film at the Museum?

Please be aware that the museum is open to the public Thursday to Sunday (10am-4pm), filming requests on an open day will incur additional costs and are not guaranteed. If you would like to film during Museum opening hours, please contact us for a bespoke quote.

Should I arrange a recce/site visit?

The London Museum of Water & Steam is a unique site. As such, we would always recommend that a recce is conducted by the production company, even if you feel that you are familiar with the museum. During a recce, you will be guided around the museum by a member of staff, and will be provided with essential information relating to filming here.

Can the engines be running?

Would you like to have an engine running during your filming, or make use of our small steam locomotive Thomas Wicksteed? Ask us about availability and pricing in your inquiry email.
