Exhibition: Time is Running Out
8th September @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Last day to see ‘Time is Running Out’ is Sunday, November 3rd!
‘Time is Running Out’ is ideal for families, young people, and anyone interested in learning more about engineering. The exhibition offers an interactive experience that highlights the future of infrastructure and the crucial role civil engineers play in addressing the challenges of climate change. It emphasizes the importance of meeting net-zero targets by 2045 in Scotland and by 2050 across the rest of the UK.
The exhibition showcases original hand-drawn illustrations and animations, where six children engage with TV presenter and engineer Rob Bell in meaningful discussions. They pose significant questions on topics such as waste reduction, the impact of transportation, energy sources, water conservation, smarter cities, and flood management. These discussions address the future of infrastructure and a variety of global challenges, aiming to inspire environmentally conscious young individuals to consider a career in civil engineering.
“Based in a Georgian waterworks station, the London Museum of Water & Steam tells the remarkable story of London’s mission to get clean water to millions across the city – a story that is increasingly relevant to today’s water challenges. We’re excited to be hosting the Institution of Civil Engineers’ pop-up exhibition ‘Time is Running Out’, which will be on view alongside our historic stationary water pumping engines. This is a great opportunity to engage our visitors with how engineers past and present have overcome societal challenges in amazing, innovative ways, and to inspire the next generation of engineers in tackling the climate crisis.” Hannah Harte, Museum Director
“Time Is Running Out’ is more than just an exhibition; it’s a call to action for the next generation. We are excited to offer an experience that not only sparks curiosity but also inspires young minds to envision and build a sustainable future. This exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for families to engage in meaningful conversations about the challenges and solutions in civil engineering.” Katherine Etheridge ICE regional director London, South East and East of England
