Covid-19 safety measures

The safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors is incredibly important to us. We review our Covid-19 policies and safety measures in response to the changing situation and in accordance with government guidelines, and best practice and guidance from the sector.

Please do not visit the museum if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: a new continuous cough, a high temperature, a change or loss in your sense of taste and smell, or you have been told to self-isolate. If you have pre-booked, please email us at museum@waterandsteam.org.uk and we will be able to change this for you.

Our staff and volunteers will not come to the museum if they are experiencing any of the symptoms above, have been told to self-isolate, or a member of their household has tested positive.

From Friday 10 December 2021, face coverings are compulsory in museums, unless exempt. We recognise the hidden disabilities scheme through sunflower lanyards, badges and pins.

As the Pump and Grind Café is located in the Museum entrance and shop, we ask that everyone wears a face covering, unless exempt, when they are not sat at a table eating and drinking.

Please give our staff, volunteers and other visitors space to help everyone feel safe.

We are continuing with our enhanced cleaning levels, focusing on touch points like handles and interactives. We will provide hand sanitiser stations throughout the Museum.

As a small team, if one or more of our staff becomes unwell or is asked to self-isolate, we may have to close. If you have pre-booked, we will be in contact as soon as we know. Please check our website and social media in advance of your visit.
