Museum to host ABTEM Guidelines seminar

Nov 2 2018 4:10 PM

Joint seminar to explore ABTEM's new Guidelines for the Care of Larger and Working Historic Objects.

On November 21st 2018, the London Museum of Water & Steam will be holding a joint seminar with the Association of British Transport and Engineering Museums (ABTEM).

The principal objective of the seminar is to discuss ABTEM’s new Guidelines for the Care of Larger and Working Historic Objects, which cover the safe maintenance and operation requirements of stationary steam engines, and is sure to be relevant to all organisations, large or small, who are caretakers of steam engines.  The London Museum of Water & Steam will share what they have learned since opening in 1975 and talk more about issues facing the Museum.

In the afternoon, attendees will have the opportunity to visit key areas of the Museum site, some not open to the public, and learn more from the volunteer engineering team about ongoing work and conservation efforts. No engines will be in steam, but this will be a real opportunity to get to know the steam engines, boilers, and diesel engines at the London Museum of Water & Steam.

For full programme details, and to confirm attendance, please register with ABTEM here and buy your tickets on the London Museum of Water and Steam website.
