With a core focus on history and science, the museum is a fantastic space for your pupils to discover an array of topics, from hitching a ride on our steam train to meeting the real-life heroes of the industrial revolution! Whether early years children or college students, bring your pupils along for a unique STEM learning experience alongside our world-famous collection of working steam engines.
Our museum offers a range of educational sessions for all Key Stages, as well as our new higher education session developed in collaboration with BTec Engineering tutors. Please click on the appropriate tab on the left to find your sessions!
For just £5.00 per pupil, schools and colleges can enjoy up to three of these guided sessions at this Learning Outside the Classroom accredited site plus time to explore for themselves. Alternatively we do offer a £3.00 per pupil charge for groups that wish to discover the Museum using some of our self-led resources.
Visits normally last from 10:00 until 14:00 and, once you have told us which sessions you would like, our Learning team will design a bespoke schedule to meet your school’s individual learning needs and outcomes.
